In the center of Daesungjeon, there are memorial tablets of the five saints including Confucius and Mencius as well as a tablet of the six wise men of the Song Dynasty, and also tablets of the eighteen wise men of Korea. While most of educational institutions of this type are located on hills so that Daesungjeon sits in the rear part, Jeonju Hyanggyo is located on flat land so its Daesungjeon sits in the front part. Jeonju Hyanggyo has been repaired for damages and was designated as the 379th historical site of the country in 1992.
