Introduction

One of the oldest train stations in Korea built in 1912 and registered as National Cultural Property no. 208

Gunsan Impi Station is a landmark reflecting the Japanese colonial period. The site has a sculpture inspired by Chae Mansik’s novel ‘Ready-made Life’. Chae Mansik was a famous novelist from the colonial period. During the Japanese colonial era, the station worked as an important traffic route that carried agricultural products from Jeollabuk-do to Japan. It was downgraded to a small-scale station on April 1st, 1994 and the handling of freights was halted on September 30, 2005. Impi station is a well preserved historical landmark that shows the architural tendencies of rural train stations at the time.
